Jennifer Lootens is Counsel to the firm. She comes with extensive experience in the development and financing of renewable energy facilities.

Prior to joining Yamamoto Caliboso LLLC, Jennifer worked as in-house counsel for SunEdison, where she assisted in the development, operations and financing of utility-scale wind and solar facilities. This work included the acquisition, development and financing of two phases of a 500 MW wind farm in Texas, as well as matters relating to the development and operations of several assets in the northeast United States.

In addition to her work on the mainland, she also assisted with the development and financing of three utility-scale solar facilities in Hawaii totaling 109 MWs and the submission of a utility-scale solar project in response to an RFP issued by the Guam Power Authority.  Specifically, she advised on matters relating to land rights and acquisitions, power purchase agreements, construction contracts and regulatory proceedings. 

Prior to joining SunEdison, Jennifer worked at Chadbourne & Parke LLP in New York and Los Angeles, where she assisted both lenders and developers in financing utility-scale wind farms, as well as the development and financing of distributed generation solar facilities. For her work in project finance, she was recommended in Chambers USA: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business from 2009 – 2011. Jennifer is licensed to practice law in the State of New York and the State of California.

Jennifer has a strong commitment to pro bono work as demonstrated by her numerous volunteer endeavors. These include acting as advisor to Just Energy, a non-governmental organization located in Cape Town, South Africa, where she worked with the organization to develop utility-scale wind farms in South Africa.  She also acted as pro bono counsel to the Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP) and UPROSE, Inc. 

Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and her Juris Doctor degree from Tulane Law School.
